THE NONPROFIT HOUSING ROUNDTABLE OF CENTRAL FLORIDA - ACTION PLAN

Goal 1. To educate the entire community on the role of the nonprofit sector as an important partner in the housing delivery process.    a. Communicate housing and nonprofit needs to local area government    b. Develop quantifiable goals for the Roundtable to allow for evaluation of this organization's effectiveness.    c. Invite guest speakers to speak monthly. Pick out topic relevant to nonprofit housing providers (i.e. management, development, underwriting) and have speaker make 30 minute presentation. Goal 2. To pool skills and resources of nonprofit housing producers and housing support agencies    a. To use the nonprofit Roundtable to gain organizational and functional strength to achieve our mission by convening regular meetings to share information, and to plan and coordinate activities of the participating nonprofits    b. To evaluate and prepare an annual plan that quantifies projects and funding needs of the participating nonprofits and prepare joint funding support request to the various funding entities    c. To promote and support emerging nonprofit housing organizations. Goal 3. To pursue various partnership opportunities and linkages with for-profit developers and builders.    a. Strengthen relationships between nonprofits and private sector    b. To become active participants in the Homebuilder's association to cultivate support of for-profit developers and builders and to seek out opportunities for joint-ventures, other business relationships and mentoring. Goal 4. To pursue activities that would increase the availability of low cost funds to nonprofits.    a. Subscribe to legislative, funding resource. Monitor and report on upcoming funding programs.    b. Develop calendar of funding source with contact, deadline and summary information. Goal 5. To pursue activities that would encourage governments to provide grants and loans to nonprofits for technical assistance and housing production.

Agenda Item 2- Guest Speaker Terri Ingles First Housing

Terri Ingles is the Senior Vice President of First Housing. First Housing is a full service mortgage banking firm, specializing in financing multifamily affordable housing in and outside the State of Florida.

Terri provided an overview of the services administered by First Housing.

! Fair Housing provides expert underwriting and loan analysis under such government programs as Florida's State Apartment Incentive Loan (SAIL), Multifamily Tax-Exempt Housing Revenue. Bond, State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) and Home Investment Partnership (HOME) programs and the federal Housing Credit (HC) program

! Fair Housing has performed construction loan servicing for nearly twenty years for loans financed under a number of government programs

! Fair Housing is launching a "Mark the Market Program" designed for Section 8 conversion and rehabilitation loans

Agenda Item 3- Guest Speaker Stacy Walker (Freddie Mac)

Stacy spoke on Freddie Mac's Community Revitalization Products and Initiatives

!Freddie Mac has targeted nineteen cites to pilot their "Credit Works" Debt Management Program

! Homebuyer Counseling and Education Programs will include Pre and Post Counseling

!Freddie is also in the process of launching the public awareness campaign "Don't Borrow Trouble" which educates consumers on predatory lending practices.

Agenda Item 4- Guest Speaker from M&H Charity

Agenda Item 5 - Miscellaneous Business

! Fannie Mae Central Florida Partnership Office and the Department of Housing and Urban Development will host a fellowship breakfast on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 at the Orlando City Hall Venue. The program will include information sessions and panel presentations by Florida's leading housing and community development agencies and financial institutions.

! Orlando Housing Authority announced the successful closings for three participants of the Family Self-Sufficiency Program in the Wheatly Manor Subdivision. Twenty-four (24) families have completed the Homebuyer workshops and twelve (12) families have graduated into homeownership.

!OHA will partner with the Collaborative Office to begin a second Voucher Choice Homeownership Program in September 2002.

! City Of Orlando Downpayment Assistance web site is up and running. Information may be accessed at www.cityoforlando.net/planning/housingdev/%20payment.htm

! Center for Independent Living will begin accepting and reviewing applications from persons with disabilities in need of support features in their homes. Modifications for these homes will begin in October.

GUEST SPEAKERS

The Roundtable is pleased to welcome three separate speakers to our August meeting. A new nonprofit to the area called MHCharities will be on hand to talk about their programs.

Ignacio Esteben from Florida Community Loan Fund will be on hand to talk about financing opportunities originating from the Loan Fund and what nonprofits who need financing can expect in the near future.
